The RIPNDIP x Hemper Lord Alien UFO Vortex Bong is the second piece in the Hemper and RIPNDIP collaboration — the label's Lord Alien character worked into Hemper's UFO Vortex saucer design in borosilicate glass. The saucer is the chamber, the dome carries the neck, and the alien takes the pilot's seat, which is the obvious and correct place for him.
Like the Nermal piece, this was a limited collaboration run rather than a standard monthly theme, produced in smaller numbers and not repeated.
How it performs
The UFO Vortex saucer is one of the most stable shapes Hemper make: wide, low, flat-based, with a broad water surface. It takes a standard bowl and downstem and draws smoothly. The character detailing is exterior; the chamber is a clean, open space.
It's a solid, well-balanced piece that works as a daily pipe as comfortably as it sits on a shelf.
